Two of ‘the lucky few’ are still relaxing on a north Polish campsite. The sun-ski is still out-ski and we are still just chilling-out-ski. The only interruption to this, is the odd 7 mile return cycle ride to the local town (Ruciane-Nida), or a venture out onto the lake in Sir Rocco the Kayak.
By the way, you’re a subscriber to this blog, you will have had an email last Friday morning informing you there was a new post, my bad…there wasn’t…I hit the wrong button and repeat published an old post, sorry.
Time to fill in the gaps.
Following a night on the Estonian campsite just outside Tallinn, laundry successfully dry, time to get a wiggle on south. Next stop Latvian capital, Riga. Parking for the day at the ferry port car park, looks a bit noisy to sleep over. There’s plenty of ‘wild’ parking opportunities around, but I’m not entirely sure all will be right with Charlie once we return. At least the port ferry car-park ‘looks’ safe just for day time parking.
A very nice walk around the city in the sunshine, great inner city green spaces, water features and parks. The city almost has a cosmopolitan feel to it, buskers and cafes, with loads of Russian influence left over, orthodox churches and sharp-lined statues. We walked across town to the old Zeppelin hangers, now put to use as a permanent market-place.
That’s pretty much all for Riga, a few Russian statues, an Orthodox church, a couple of war memorials, art deco hotels, shopping centres and dock-sides for the cruise ships. But we just had to have a drink in the Garlic Cafe, beer with garlic, I can see why it never caught on.
